A learning record, not a price of admission

Your information.
Your choices.

LEVEL is a free learning commons from JourdanLabs. Student accounts let you keep a course list and return to saved progress across devices. Here is what that involves.

What we keep

  • Account information: your verified email address and an account identifier. Clerk provides sign-in, identity verification, and password or sign-in security.
  • Your learning profile: your full name, an optional birthday if you choose to provide one, and your optional marketing-email preference.
  • Your learning record: courses you add, lesson and practice progress, completion state, and when you last studied. This information is stored in our Neon database and associated with your account.

Your full name identifies your learning record. A birthday is not required to access courses or save progress. Please do not enter patient names, health records, financial account numbers, or other sensitive documents into LEVEL.

What it is for

We use account and learning information to sign you in, show your courses, save your work, and maintain your learning and completion records. Our hosting and service providers process information needed to run those features, including technical request and security information.

We do not sell your personal data. You do not need to buy anything or agree to marketing to learn here.

You choose the extras

Marketing emails are a separate, unchecked choice in your profile. You may turn that choice off at any time. Necessary account messages, such as email verification or password recovery, are separate from marketing.

You can edit your name, remove an optional birthday, or change your email preference in My profile. Use “Manage email and account security” there for Clerk’s account controls.

Take your record with you—or close your account

In My profile, “Download my learning data” exports your saved profile and course records as a JSON file, including courses removed from your dashboard. That file contains personal information, so keep it private.

“Permanently delete my account” asks you to type your verified email address before removing your profile and saved learning records from LEVEL’s active database and deleting your Clerk student account. This is different from removing one course from your list, and it cannot be undone. Download a copy first if you want to keep your record. A minimal deletion record (account ID and deletion time, without your name, birthday, email, or course history) prevents a delayed save from recreating deleted data. Service-provider logs and backups may follow their own retention schedules.

Saved progress stays separate from a license

Removing a course from your dashboard archives the enrollment; it does not erase your study record. Adding it again restores the saved progress. LEVEL study progress and completion records are not professional certification, a license, accredited clinical education, or proof of eligibility for a licensing exam.

Signed-in progress is stored with your account, not in a shared browser’s course history. Clerk uses necessary session information in your browser, and public lessons and artwork may be cached to help pages load. Previous guest progress is not automatically added to a student account. Shared-device users should sign out when finished.

The services that help us run

LEVEL uses Clerk for accounts, Neon for stored learning records, and Vercel for hosting. Their privacy notices describe their handling of information. Account and progress requests need an internet connection; a disconnected session may not yet be saved to your account.
